King Creosote
I went to see the excellent King Creosote the other day at Shepherds Bush Empire supported by Larrikin Love (a bit like the Waterboys doing Libertines covers) and Peter, Bjorn and John (surprisingly underwhelming). Imagine my surprise as KC took to the stage to see that their multi-instrumentalist backing singer was none other than KT Tunstall! This was made even more surreal by the fact that the band seemed determined to ignore the fact that she was there… but she definitely added to the show. It struck me that she is becoming a bit like a Scottish version of Norah Jones, incredibly commercially popular on the one hand and determined to remain on the fringes at the same time. And, of course, she is a high profile supporter of the CarbonNeutral Company, as well as being a speaker at next weekend’s Stop Climate Chaos rally in Trafalgar Square. Good on her.
