Lord don’t slow me down

I was lucky enough to get a ticket to the premiere of the Oasis tour documentary at the Curzon Soho last night. “Lord Don’t Slow Me Down” follows the band during their mammoth world tour of 05/06, including a jaunt round the States, a trip to Australia and their huge UK shows in Manchester and Cardiff (the latter featuring a somehwat “tired and emotional” Charlotte Church backstage!). As ever, whatever your opinion of the band, Liam and Noel remain tremendously good value for money and seemed to spend most of their waking hours winding each other up.

This was reinforced at the screening during the Q&A session following the film. Liam and Noel dominated the stage, with Gary Crowley (not exactly a wallflower himself) struggling to maintain some kind of order. A typical exchange featured Liam saying that he backed David Gest to win “I’m a Celebrity…”, that he wished Noel could swap personalities with Spongebob Squarepants and that he was “already so Beatled up” that he didn’t need to hear the new Beatles album.

A timely reminder that rock’n'roll will never die! Their “greatest hits” collection is out this week too if you don’t already own all the albums.
