Meat Free Mondays

An article in a newspaper magazine drew my attention to this campaign: Meat Free Mondays is an initiative inspired by the U.S movement, Meatless Mondays. The goal is to help reduce meat consumption by 15% in order to improve personal health and the health of our planet. The UK campaign is being backed by Sir Paul McCartney and his daughters, Stella and Mary. They provide a convincing argument in the article, highlighting that livestock production accounts for 18% of the World’s green house gas emissions, compared to the 13% which is contributed by transport (source: UN report).

I am about to move in with my boyfriend, a carnivore through and through. A site like this will arm me with some fantastic facts and figures to convince him that being vegetarian one or two days a week will benefit him, the planet, and not to mention our shopping bill!
