It’s the 30th annual Big Garden Birdwatch this weekend. It’s a giant bird survey which provides the RSPB with information about what birds are in British gardens – unsurprisingly the blackbird currently tops the list. The results help the RSPB prioritise their conservation work and focus on birds with depleting numbers (house sparrows, starlings and song thrushes)

To take part you simply log all the birds in your garden during one hour on either Saturday or Sunday. You can submit your findings online and the results are published in March.
